Is your child spending too much time indoors and on devices?
Suppose your child is bored and does not know what to do with his free time?
What if there is a program that helps your child cut down on device time and teach him self-management and creativity skills, while being outdoors?

Thank you for having a safe space where my son is slowly learning how to express his needs and wants. Most importantly he gets to breathe fresh air, be free to move around and have sensory inputs to satisfy his curiosity. Attending the session also allows him to learn how to interact with other children of different age groups. I'm looking forward to see how my son will continue to grow as he continues the session in the forest.

I found FS to be a very good way of helping my son with sensory dysregulation and social skills challenged learn how to self-regulate and work with others in a group setting. Nature itself provides great therapeutic . When matched with the loving, compassionate and gentle but firm facilitation of Coach Mindy and her team, the benefits and learning out in Nature, from Nature, are exponential. Both my boys benefited greatly from their time at FS.

The open space in nature itself brings a sense of calmness. This natural setting also provides the physical personal space that a typical school classroom cannot afford. Being in such a 'free' environment empowers my child to be more responsive to learning positive behaviours (turn-taking, empathy, caring for others) and taking on new challenges (exploring muddy terrain, using tools). My son's favourite activity at Forest School is building with materials from nature. As a parent, I am more than happy to see my child having outdoor fun at Forest School on a weekend morning instead of spending time on gadgets at home.

According to a 2010 study conducted by the National Institute of Education and the Media Development Authority, nearly 9% of Singapore's young people are "pathological gamers," spending 37.5 hours per week playing video games — double the time that non-addicts spend.
In 2016, Michigan State University reported that “Dr. Christopher Starr, an ophthalmologist from Weill Cornell Medical College, suggests one to three extra hours per day should be spent outside. This is in addition to school recess time. Dr. Starr explains that dopamine, a known inhibitor of eye growth whose release is stimulated by light, prevents elongation of the eye. Lack of dopamine results in the eye becoming more elongated, resulting in nearsightedness.”
Excessive gaming or Internet use is affecting our children’s academic performance and health. We are working hard to change that.

It is hard to get your child to agree to go outdoors you say?
We hear you. So we have invested in setting up a video game inspired adventure camp, and run it during holidays on demand (minimum group of 6 to form teams)! In video games like Minecraft and Terraria, players have to survive in a hostile environment, build their own home, hunt for their food, search for resources and fend off wandering monsters. Sure, your child can survive in the 'wilderness' on the computer screen, but can they do it out in the real woods?
In this exciting outdoor game, kids have to work together, using what they know from video games, to learn outdoor survival skills and earn points along the way.
Just like in their favourite video games, kids will be set a number of challenges throughout the day, and all the while be building their dens before 'night' falls and the monsters wake up. Players will ‘light’ their own campfire, 'mine' for resources and use sharp tools; all closely supervised by experienced Forest School coaches. There'll also be plenty of time to get creative with play and imagination - of course.
